The Southern Railways Archive was established in 1997 to conserve and make accessible the history of the railways of Southern England. This website provides information about the collections in our care, how to access them, and the types of material we are able to accept. The Archive operates under the oversight of the Bluebell Railway Trust (Registered Charity No. 292497).

about the archive

The Southern Railways Archive contains more than 150,000 photographs and 15,000 documents, signal box diagrams, timetables, special traffic notices, plans, maps and carriage drawings, and an ever-expanding library of books and articles.

the online Store

The Archive Store provides access to a section of documents and over 30,000 railway and transport photographs which can be searched, browsed and purchased online, covering the UK and Ireland as well as a number of overseas locations.
